If you are looking for a great place to visit then the Forest Discovery Centre (FDC) is what you are looking for.  You will find us nestled in the Jarrah forest just north of the Dwellingup township.  We have plenty to suit all age groups and ability levels so come and explore and experience the ‘Hub of the Forest’.  The FDC links forest to arts and environment. You can enjoy a walk on our trails and tree top platform, see artisans at work, learn about the natural environment, Indigenous culture and local heritage, have a go at our range of hands on activities, get active in the nature play area, try a creative course or book a tour for your group or school.   The FDC houses a fine art gallery, retail shop of local artisans work, a forest interpretive centre, walking trails with education signage, a large range of hands on learning activities, and a fully equipped function centres and workshop space for hire as well as an accommodation facility, Jarrah Forest Lodge.   The FDC is only a 10min walk or short drive from the town centre.  Just follow the ‘Emu Walk Trail’ from The Blue Wren Café to our Doorstep.  Open Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am to 4.00pm. Courses include woodworking, painting, felting, ceramics, jewellery making, blacksmithing, and mosaics. The programme is regularly updated and no previous experience is necessary to participate.   ‘We had a fabulous weekend learning mosaics from the extremely talented Nathan Hopkins, so glad we bought tickets for his class.’   EDUCATIONAL COURSES FOR SCHOOLS The FDC offers an exciting range of woodworking and arts courses as well as fascinating Indigenous culture, environmental and heritage tours for all ages and ability levels.  We can tailor courses to suit your groups special needs.   We are also able to offer ‘Nearer to Nature’ educational courses run in partnership with DPaW and ALCOA.  These courses are directly curriculum linked.  For full details on all programmes follow the link.   GUIDED TOURS Experienced guides at the FDC conduct excellent tours.  We cater for small private groups through to large tour buses.  Explore the interpretive centre and the walk trails, learning about wildflowers, animals, Indigenous culture and the resources of the forest.  A tree-top viewing platform allows visitors to enjoy the bush at canopy height and a handmade timber cutter’s hut and campfire area can be reached from one of the bush trails.
